Create a “Letterlogo” using 3 to 5 letters in the same size, choosing a typeface from Didot, Rockwell, Baskerville, or Helvetica. Then, use the “letterlogo” to design a repeating pattern unit that helps brand the imagined company.
Au Naturel is a logo created with the letters u, n, and i, using Rockwell. I imagine that Au Naturel is a skin-care brand that believes in bringing women together to grow their confidence and embrace natural beauty. I wanted the logo's style to be simple, modern, and feminine.
The core value of my brand, 'Idea' is growth. Envisioned as a tech company thriving in the center of a fast growing industry, the logo shows literal developing movement with the growing 'i'. A color gradient also reflects upward transitioning. I chose to use the font Helvetica, because I was inspired by the linear negative spaces created when aligning the letters. The spaces reminded me of a circuit board, which inspired my pattern!
"Every Good Boy" is a pet-focused brand that sells fashionable pet supplies. Originally inspired by the treble clef and an idea to use the letters found in musical lines, I played around with the E, G, B, D, and F in Didot. Quickly, I realized that, not only did my treble clef resemble a dog, but the musical mnemonic 'Every Good Boy Does Fine' could refer to dogs! Soon a fun-loving, leash-resembling pattern was formed. I specifically chose bright colors because I wanted the pattern to be as unique and unforgettable as the logo. This logo would sell; I'm paw-sitive.
BXSS is a fashion company that sells professional clothes to women. Whenever the word 'Boss' is said, often the tendency is to automatically think of a man. My goal was to re-direct the word to represent a girl boss. Using two V's and an O in the Didot typeface, I set out to create a feminine, yet strong, whimsical, yet classic logo. Diagonal lightning bolts cut through the square, producing an electric energy that BXSS embodies.
